Each neighborhood has one. A house that every kid for miles around plans to go to on Halloween. This one was immense and old, a leftover from Edwardian times, stuffed with antiques and a formidable old lady. She sat enthroned every Halloween in the center of the hall. Each costumed child was asked their name, which was written down, along with the trick they would perform for their treat. It was embarrassing to what lengths kids would go for this yearly goody.
