I paddle my kayak out into the darkness of the new moon. Slowly, away from the jetty's reflected lights. Toward the mangrove inlet. Then a sudden magic. The act of creation revealed in the waters below. Some flicker of our earliest life.

Other remnants of the Big Bang rejoice with me, admire the phosphorescence of each successive paddle stroke. The Seven Sisters venerate the beauty below. Orion interrupts his hunt, later guides me back through the thicket of tangled roots. Together we peer into the swirling waters. A mirror of our own luminosity.
