In Hindsight

We should have noticed something was amiss on her last visit. Grandma, our beloved baker, brought us an apple pie just in time for dinner but politely declined our offer to join us, blew a kiss our way, and left. We couldn’t wait to dig in, yet we were soon relieved she didn’t stay. From the first bite, we realized the pie wasn’t right. I wish we had read the signs. She left us a few weeks later.
