It is a cold fall morning when I see his photo above the news of his death. I spiral down into a search for more information, where he was, whether he died in the car or at the hospital, and wonder, what were his final thoughts.

He creeps into my dreams, and each time we have long conversations, when I try to steer him in the right direction, to close the gap between us. I see him in broad daylight, running on the treadmill in front of me, standing on the opposite side of train tracks, lurking behind my car. He is everywhere and nowhere.
