A flea is wringing its legs on the sickman's face. The sickman is turning his face in pain and displeasure. He slaps his forehead and somehow stops the flea in the palm of his hand. But only Goodness knows how the tiny creature has eluded his grasp.

I will be spending the next couple of days with this sickman, and this sickman is my own brother. He had finished taking a mountain of pills and the doctor was filling me in on the latest . . . .

But one thing he didn't mention, or didn't know, is that my brother wouldn't live to see the six o'clock hour of a bright Tuesday evening.
