Three Hares

When she goes to work at the facility she wears black. She tallies time using atomic clocks. She catches errant seconds, locks them into leap seconds, and calculates them into leap days.

She regulates, controls, monitors, minds, meddles, no parallel universe, no time travel, no time going slowly, no dragging time, no split seconds.

But, in the darkest sleepless nights, she likes the idea of bringing time to a complete stop.

three hares leap
in the warming moon
beat dry grass
down to a fairy circle
a dance, silver as time

Author’s Note: inspired by The Dancing Hare sculpture by Sophie Ryder.
