An Old Jacket (or a disused park)

some say I am stag brown     others say I am brown like a brownfield site     and I know I look insignificant—snazzy hanky gone, frayed and threadbare in places, iron marks, stains, gaping seams—but there are surprises in every pocket     and some allowance should be made for shrinkage (due to the housing estate) and the rough appearance due to the tough cloth I have been made of

the rubbish bin smell
swamps out

and I am still worth money     I make some people itch to turn me into something else     but just take a look at some of the finest buttons you will ever see hanging by delicate threads and oops—there goes another
