Time and Timelessness

This ridge contains the burial sites of prominent members of the transcendental movement of their time. I have visited many times over the years, in every season, to leave a stone at Thoreau's grave as I did at the cairn beside the original site of his cabin near Walden Pond.

Now in bright sunlight the huge rose quartzite block that holds Emerson's burial inscription has considerably faded. I ponder over whether our time-bound lives are mediated by some form of timelessness and settle into some kind of acceptance.
