three months of imagining

in winter, snow does not fall, crash or collect in gutters, it does not come to rest between the litter and buildings. it does not evoke a wonderland from where such things are usually trapped within the electricity of film and television, instead it makes you think of rain on stone. instead, winter is a shortening of days and a bloated heating bill, it is a frozen robin or ice on barbed wire, a mighty pastel that washes green from the fields.
