Strong Cheese & Bitter Coffee

Ruffled by the breeze
of a passing vacant thought
this stillness of mind

The afternoon quietly fading in a wintry sky. It began with a tall glass of Bloody Mary. The blend of vodka, tomato juice and tabasco is perfect. She and I once more conjoined in ancient love.

A grateful body in an easy chair. A waft of fresh baked welsh cakes from the kitchen—none better than hers. Strauss's "Four Last Songs" accompanied by our stream murmuring past the window. The coffee just as bitter as it needs to be. And the Caerphilly just as strong. The oatcakes as finely milled.

Blessed are the ravages of time which eternally renew such bliss.

On Bog Pond
the drumming
of snipe in a fading sunset
