The Ensō

what if I were the muse
behind Dylan's first song
the pull in a swift's sheer fall
would I then know the pain
of too much love
or the joy in learning
to let things go?

the loneliness of
a couple falling apart
each small gulf becomes
something large
the swish of a painter's brush
space swirls in an ensō

a question
with many answers . . .
falling blossom

a moonbow
across wheat fields
the password that opens
things kept under lock
that first kiss
the warmth of a handclasp
the heart beat
long after the run

hazy streetlights—
the rains weave coconut trees
into a distant past

Author's Note: Ensō is a Japanese word meaning "circle" and a concept strongly associated with Zen.
