The Uneasy Hours

He’s forgotten that he left his cell phone in the car last night and takes mine to work. Both phones are identical. Since we don’t have a land-line, I email him to bring mine back at his lunch break when I discover what happened. I get no reply. Patiently I wait until it’s passed the normal time. I begin to wonder if he had an accident on the road. The neighbor whose door I can knock on is not home at this hour.
