The Link and the Shift

twilight hour       without a sequel       being neither day nor night       mosquitoes       begin their songs       crickets chirp       never-ending play       of oranges and reds       swivelling copper plate       dips into the far horizon       I measure       my steps       with a cicada's song       leafy shade       a leaping frog       leaves circles in the water       loud speakers       hem in       a muezzin's call to the one god

wishing
I were looped
to a string . . .
one red kite fluttering
across the twilight sky
