all this shows an example

The stamp that is not only torn but also fitting is not any symbol. It suggests nothing. A sack that has no opening suggests more and the loss is not commensurate. The season gliding and the torn hangings receiving mending all this shows an example, it shows the force of sacrifice and likeness and disaster and a reason.

just this rose
the one that's missing
several petals
making it stand out
irregularly red

Somewhere there's a Roblee's shoebox with the lid on it, wrapped and tied with string. There's an old wallet inside, with a coin flap that could snap shut, a black rubber comb, a half empty bottle of Fitch's rose hair oil, a pocket knife with a broken horn handle, two baseballs signed by Ted Kazanski and Del Ennis from the '55 Phillies, and a silver shoe horn. I don't know where the box is anymore; I assume it's lost. But, it's somewhere, and with all that stuff.

in the open window
curtains of subtly stripped
pink gingham
stir in a little wind
trying to speak

news on the radio
of even bigger
storms on the way
outside the window
squirrels rush around
