death at work

a woman's profile on a white pillow a flat sharply drawn relief of a head hardly projecting from the white background of a wrinkleless pillow bones clearly visible death at work carefully like an archaeologist steadily removing superfluous layers of flesh layers of life exposing bones sharp clean lines jaw bone cheek bone hair standing up red hair spread evenly punk-like fashion a wide open mouth a white cover drawn high up to the chin bed linen wrinkle-free clean fresh undisturbed only the dead can use a bed leaving it so untouched is she dead? I will never know I never saw her again I never came back to the Mt Olivett Hospice
