The Clifton Twins

Marilyn and Carolyn Clifton, twins by birth but not by looks, Marilyn the blessed one, a worldly 14-year-old with an hourglass figure that hasn’t even thought of shifting yet, she so tolerates her panting twelve year old admirer, coming outside on some trumped-up premise don’t you leave the front porch young lady trails her mother’s voice after her, she gives me back her lop-sided grin for every bad joke I come up with maybe that’s it I make her smile I can’t take my eyes off her (imagined) perfect breasts beneath all that 1950’s paraphernalia meant to keep us away from them, those appendages we have only spied in the girlie magazines we slipped out of Pam’s Delicatessen under our coats, I don’t think I ever stopped staring at her chest. I wonder where she is now.

you shift,
lift your right nipple
into my mouth
