Will the rain reach us?

Dry summer, very dry. Walking stirs the powdery soil. Dust stings my eyes. I have watched my garden’s beauty wilt. My astilbe slumps, its vibrancy now hued like stone washed denim. Sun-blistered tomatoes cling to withered vines. A watering ban’s been issued. I watch morning, evening weather maps. Watch, and wait.
