Keeping the Faith

The baby squirrel hesitates a moment, then leaps from a soggy jackfruit branch onto the adjacent mango tree. It scurries down a long wet twig and stops mid-way to scratch itself. From the thin end of the twig it jumps on to the slippery telephone cable and tiptoes over hanging droplets of water till it reaches the edge of the roof. It vaults onto the mossy tiles and goes out of sight. We break into applause.
