Story Poem

What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.
                                                                      —Ecclesiastes 1:9

It’s true what you’ve heard. I will not lie to you. It's all been done before. There is nothing new to say, and yet, my thirst remains. I still want to hear the tale of misfits who fell in love, the underdog who beat the odds, murderers who almost got away, so tell me again, for each winter I long for another spring, and each generation another mother reads her child the same bedtime tale of the cinder wench in glass slippers or the little engine who could, so tell me again, give me my golden arm, be my Aesopian fabulist, never satisfied with a single kiss.
