Ways of Communication

At the beach in Biloxi a young pregnant woman tugs the line to steer the redbird soaring in the blue sky. Meanwhile seagulls flap, wail, and hover overhead. Suddenly the woman holds her protruding belly, giggling with a charming smile. Then her hands try to feel the movement. The released, wing-stretching kite flies toward the sea. Her husband, who wears sunglasses and naps on the beach chair, chimes like a meowing cat: Honey, come sit down. She strolls to the sea, self-talking. The hem of her long white dress flutters like a light wave lapping the pier.
