Not Letting Go

It was an accident. Perhaps an unhappy one. There was no clear intent. The choice seemed random. A quiet place with lots of space to while away a passing shower.

Now I’m stuck. I can’t break the habit. Every day for the last three months. Sitting at a familiar table. Staring at a coffee cup. The rest of the world just seems to pass this place by.

I don’t even like coffee, it was the ambience (or lack of it) that hooked me. Amongst the disused chairs and tables, there was space to think. So I thought. An hour and a half flew past as my mind sifted through mental attic rooms. It felt like the ‘progress’ I’d heard people mention. That was almost 100 visits ago. Since then, their decor has faded further. I can see why no-one comes here.
