The End of the Great Silent Era

Marlene Dietrich and I are in a silent film about lovers playing a game that will eventually negate each other. She plays Emma Grotsch, a femme fatale who entraps men and who leaves them like stale crumb cake. She never got over the memory of her father abandoning the family before the war. I play I. And "I" have a mysterious past. I have been assigned to assassinate Emma after procuring vital information about a past lover. Emma wishes to poison me after she force feeds me morsels of her silky white flesh. She refers to me as her "big baby" or her "bubbly-eyed honey.” After we both die, I still don't know who I really am or where I'm supposed to go, now that the director has fired himself, and the movie has been shelved, remade into a talkie with Clark Gable and Myrna Loy called I Married a Spy.
