Cold Sweats

Chinooks, they call the hot high winter winds. They melt the snow fast and tear at the shingles. We get as close as we can during the mountain windstorms and wait. We watch out the windows that bend the light in gusts and wait. We eat and dance and sometimes sing. We wait. When the wind stops, we go out and count the shingles caught in the wet drifts.
