Who lives there now and stays up late
to watch the sun go down?
                                                      Li Po

On a summer evening, so much like this one, all green leaf, birdsong, and golden air, she will ask to come home, to sit on her small porch once again. Her voice will be soft, her eyes full. In cheery, false voices, they will change the subject. Another time, another evening, in some other season she'll come home.

exiled
to a strange land
over and over
